Our History

The Network was set up in Lincoln on the back of a research project looking into the barriers experienced by young people and their employers across the city.

It was found that there was a lack of joined up support in Lincoln. There is a range of training providers across Lincoln and no single service that is able to refer young people to the support they need, whether that is a recruitment service or health and well-being support.

Young people need more support now than they ever have. Nationwide shifts in the labour market towards ‘knowledge-based’ or ‘office-based’  roles and away from manual ones, as well as a slow economy, mean that making the transition between school and work is more difficult than it was 20 years ago. These issues are compounding the youth unemployment issue across Lincoln.

The Network officially launched in June, 2016. It operates alongside Voluntary Centre Services at City Hall.
