Project Officer for UKCRF – Chris

WHO ARE YOU?

Hello! My name is Chris, I am one of the Project Officers for The Network. Easily identified as the beardy, tattooed one!

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN AT THE NETWORK?

I am a newbie! I started with The Network in February 2022 and have loved every minute so far!

WHY DID I JOIN THE NETWORK?

I come from the health and fitness industry and have a background in Personal Training. The main part of the job I enjoyed was helping people achieve their goals and better themselves. I want to transfer these skills to help young people become the best versions of them they can be.

WHAT DOES YOUR JOB ENTAIL?

I work on the delivery side with a mixture of one to one and outreach work. My aim is to help as many young people as I can to overcome any potential barriers that may be stopping them from gaining the training, education or employment opportunities they need to thrive!

  1. Mike van Wyck – A fountain of knowledge from the fitness industry… also likes tattoos
  2. Joe Rogan – Never short of conversation topics, can not imagine there will be many awkward silences!
  3. Micky Flanagan – A man with funny bones
  4. Ledley King – My footballing idol, could both talk about our glass knees
  5. Rowan Atkinson – An absolute genius and national treasure.

WHO ARE YOU?

Hi! I’m Georgia, one of The Network’s Project Officers. I’m a practicing artist, poet, writer and TEDx speaker, with a love of nature!

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN AT THE NETWORK?

I’m new! I started in February 2022!

WHY DID I JOIN THE NETWORK?

I wanted to be part of the team at The Network because I understand how important the work they do is! The one-to-one person-centered support that they offer is so important for young people who might be feeling lost or unsupported without the structure of a workplace or education.

WHAT DOES YOUR JOB ENTAIL?

My role involves working one-to-one with people, either remotely or in person, to collaboratively figure out the steps they could take to help them get where they want to be.

Kickstart Developer – Howard

WHO ARE YOU?

Hi, I’m Howard! I’m the Website Developer. You’ll sometimes see me sat behind the front desk working away at all the ‘behind the scenes’ stuff. You may also see me at workshops or focus groups!

How long have you been working at The Network?

I’m new! I started with the Network in November of 2021. I’ve been here just over a week as I’m writing this and I’ve already learnt so much!

Why did you join The Network?

I was first introduced to the Network as a client. Working with Gabby, I was able to gain the confidence I needed to face working life alongside making goals and taking the right steps to make it happen!

After being introduced with the Network, I was made aware they had an open opportunity I wanted to be a part of. This is my first real step into working life, for it to be a part of something that is helping others, those in similar position to the one I was in, it makes me proud to be a part of it.

What does your job entail?

I work to maintain and add to our Website and Social Media.

I want to create a smooth and straight forward user experience across our website to make sure there aren’t any barriers with getting into contact with the Network or finding the help that you may need.

Across our social media, I want to help to expand our reach so that those who need the Network most can find us. I also want to share our upcoming opportunities so that everyone who could benefit, can.

If you were hosting a dinner party which 5 people would you invite and why?
  1. Sir David Attenborough – The most respectable person on the planet
  2. Neil deGrasse Tyson – He has a mind-blowing amount of things to say and learn from
  3. Richard Ayoade – Guaranteed good night with him and a good fit for the above two
  4. Gordon Ramsay – I just hope he’s cooking the food
  5. Aubrey Plaza – Her sarcastic nature should add some spice to this otherwise bland table

Project Coordinator – Gabby

WHO ARE YOU?

Hi, I’m Gabby the project coordinator. I’m the person that you will see when you access The Network for support!

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN AT THE NETWORK?

I started in late August 2018, but I volunteered for The Network before that

WHY DID YOU JOIN THE NETWORK TEAM?

I really felt the value and importance in what it does. So many young people feel lost after leaving school or a job and it’s hard to figure out how to get on the right path. I wanted to get involved and help other people who may have felt that way at some point.

WHAT DOES YOUR JOB ENTAIL?

Most of my role involves working directly with the people who come into our office. If you’re a young person accessing our service, you’ll be meeting with me! Delivery is my favourite part of the job role and I love supporting young people to take the next steps and get where they want to be.

I also do a whole load of the admin, running and organising projects, drafting new project ideas, working alongside other organisations, running workshops and so much more! As we grow, I’ve noticed that my job role evolves and changes and I’m so excited to see where it takes us!

IF YOU WERE HOSTING A DINNER PARTY WHICH 5 PEOPLE WOULD YOU INVITE AND WHY?

Carl Rogers (father of person centred therapy and An All Around Good Human)
Irvin Yalom (famous psychotherapist who writes really great books)
George RR Martin (I need to know how the Song of Ice and Fire series ends, and also just chatting to him would be so amazing because he’s such a gifted writer)
Terry Pratchett (One of my favourite authors. His books never fail to cheer me up and make me laugh. Every time you read it you notice new quips)
Keanu Reeves (because who wouldn’t want to meet Keanu Reeves?!)
